Mascalzone Latino 2019 – July 7-12th

For the 7th year, PIB and Scuola Vela Mascalzone Latino bring to Boston 2 children from underserved areas of Naples to motivate them to study and stay off the streets. For info on SVML: https://scuolavela.mascalzonelatino.it

July 2019 Program

(Contact us if interested in joining any lunch/dinner – children speak Italian only)

Saturday 6th – children (M & I, 12 and 14yrs old) arrived from Italy with their instructor, Salvatore 

Sunday 7th – breakfast at Giovanni’s home; acrylic paint lesson with Winchester Italian artist Lucia Rubini; brunch with pancakes; trip to Plymouth Plantation to learn about American Indians and the first immigrants; motivational dinner with local Italians in Assembly Row, Somerville (organized by Giovanni)

Monday 8th –  walk among biotech companies in Cambridge; drive around Boston with Mr and Mrs Saraceni; on foot exploration of downtown Boston (Quincy Market, Boston Common, North End, Back Bay); lunch at Saraceni’s home; Sacco & Vanzetti’s prison; regatta practice at MIT Sailing Center, where M & I positioned repeatedly among first 5 (other competitors were all adults), then end in 1st and 2nd place; motivational dinner with local Italians in Boston in Quincy Market (organized by Antonella & Francesca)

Tuesday 9th  –  Museum of Science; Neapolitan pizza kindly offered by Eataly; Boston Public Library; sailing races @MIT Sailing Center against more expert sailors, I wins 2nd place; motivational dinner with Italians in Boston (organized by Guglielma)

Wednesday 10th  – Prudential Sky Walk with Rosario; Museum of Fine Arts with Guglielma; Neapolitan pizza offered by Mast’; trip to Rockport with Saraceni; motivational barbecue with Italians and children from the Scuola Piccoli Italiani a Boston at Valentina’s home in Cambridge 

Thursday 11th – explore Boston; lunch with Italian Vice-Consul Mrs Emilia Luciani and Italian School Office Director Mr Adamo Castelnuovo, at the Italian General Consulate in Boston; sailing races @ Courageous Sailing Center; motivational dinner with Italians (organized by Nadia)

Friday 12th  – sailing race @ Community Boating 11:30 am; award ceremony @ Serafina Downtown 7pm, OPEN TO ALL – NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED;  motivational dinner with PIB managers and members; drive to Cape Cod (organized by Frank)

Saturday 13th – Cape cod (organized by Frank)

Sunday 14th –   Cape cod; motivational lunch or dinner (organized by Carla)

Monday 15th – free day; fly back to Italy at 5:00 PM
