From Space to Earth: Past, Present and Future of Food

Houston, we have a problem
Nowadays, due to too many work commitments and busy lifestyles, people do not have much time to dedicate to food preparation. This ends up with improper nutrition and a lack of important micronutrients.
Astronauts and nutrition
Thanks to studies and research conducted for the development and production of the Bonus Food for European Astronauts, Argotec Space Food Lab was able to identify interactions between nutrition and the human body and to develop a balanced diet and a safe packaging technology for astronauts in space. Being able to provide the right food and nutrients is fundamental to guarantee a healthy and disease-free life for astronauts in zero-gravity.
Tradition, technology and innovation
Our forefathers’ nutrition was simpler than ours, but richer in micronutrients, because food respected seasonality and was less processed. Today the challenge is to rediscover tradition and renew it through technology, in order to produce innovative food able to provide all the necessary micronutrients.

PIB Sailing Championship and Award Ceremony – Jul 2nd @ Courageous Sailing Center
Jul 2 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Professionisti Italiani a Boston, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Boston, will host its 2016 Sailing Event from June 27th through July 4th.

For the forth year in a row, two young sailors from the nonprofit sailing school “Scuola Vela Mascalzone Latino” will compete against young sailors from three of the most renown sailing centers in the Boston area. The regattas will take place at the locations of the three local sailing clubs: the MIT sailing pavilion, the Courageous Sailing Center and the Community Boating Center.

The Mascalzone Latino School of Sailing was founded by Vincenzo Onorato, President of the Italian racing team Mascalzone Latino that competes in many different international sailing formats. The team was winner of six world sailing cups and it also competed in two America’s Cups.

The sailing school was founded with the goal of taking kids off the streets of underserved neighborhoods of Naples (Italy) and giving them the opportunity to learn how to perform better not only in sailing but also at school. This experience wants to be a reward for their efforts, or an incentive to get better. In both cases, it aims to motivate them to work hard to achieve their goals and give them hope in their potentials.

Tuesday, June 28th at 5.30pm at MIT Sailing Center

Thursday, June 30th at 6pm at Courageous Sailing Center
