Coro-Dante – Italian Repertory Chorale
CORO DANTE: The Dante Alighieri Society of Cambridge is seeking interested members of the community to sing in a four-part chorus called Coro-Dante. The purpose of the chorus is to promote Italian language and culture through singing Italian music.
CHORUS SIZE & REPERTOIRE: The chorus has inscribed at this point about 50 singers SATB (soprano, alto, tenor bass), and performs a wide variety of musical styles – old and new, but always in Italian.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Italian and extensive musical experience are not required. Ability to sing in tune is highly desired. Ability to read music is not required but preferable. A weekly commitment of 90 minutes on Mondays for rehearsing, plus occasional extra sectional or music reading sessions 6:45-7:00 would give you a chance to meet with friends, make new ones and perhaps expand your musical and linguistic skills!
REHEARSALS / LEADERSHIP: Rehearsals will be held at the Dante Alighieri Society (Monday Eves, 7:00-8:30) located at 41 Hampshire Street (Kendall Square Area) in Cambridge. International Choral/Orchestral conductor Kevin Galiè, J.D., M.M., a Dante community member, has graciously donated his musical expertise as musical director. Membership fees are $30/year – that and your enthusiasm and love of music are all that are required.
